Liberty Hill Sculpture Festival celebrates 50 years

This year's festival marks the 50th anniversary of the 1976 International Sculpture Symposium that started Liberty Hill's sculpture tradition. From Wednesday, Oct. 7, through Saturday, Oct. 10, you can stop by Lions Foundation Park and watch sculptors carve a new permanent piece for the Liberty Hill International Sculpture Park.

The main festival is Saturday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., with live music, sculpting demos, park tours, a fun run, a pet costume contest, a kids' craft tent and inflatables, and vendors from The Market LHTX.

Abbey's take: The kids' zone and pet costume contest make this an easy family morning. Get there early for parking.

Walmart Supercenter coming to the new Santa Rita Ranch Center

A 176,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter will anchor Santa Rita Ranch Center, a planned 400,000-square-foot retail development at the northwest corner of Ronald Reagan Boulevard and Hwy. 29. Other planned tenants include Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Ross, and PetSmart. The Walmart is expected to open in 2027.

Abbey's take: More everyday shopping close to home is good news for busy families. If you're comparing homes, ask me which sections will be closest to the new center.

Toll Brothers opens three collections in Eldorado

Toll Brothers opened the Maravilla, Sierra, and Tesoro collections, along with three model homes, in Eldorado, the newest village at Santa Rita Ranch.

Abbey's take: If you tour these models, bring your own agent on the first visit and ask for the builder's current incentives in writing so we can compare them with resale homes.
